Dr. Charlotte MacLeod

DVM

Dr. Charlotte MacLeod grew up on an acreage west of Calgary, AB and was involved with horses from a young age. She spent many years riding and competing on the local hunter and show jumping circuits. She was fortunate enough to grow up next door to a local equine vet practice which played a major role in her decision to pursue a career as an equine veterinarian. She graduated with her DVM in 2017 from the University of Calgary and completed an internship at McKinley and Peters Equine Hospital in Spokane, WA. Following a few years in practice, Charlotte and her husband Heath (also a veterinarian) moved abroad in 2021 to New Zealand. Charlotte worked at an equine practice near Auckland that served a large community of Standardbred and Thoroughbred racing operations as well as English performance horses. There, she expanded her skills in performance horse medicine, lameness and reproduction. Charlotte and Heath moved back to Canada in Spring of 2023 and welcomed their first daughter shortly after. While balancing her new role as “mom”, Charlotte is looking forward to practicing once more in southern Alberta.
